Martha Tornay Artistic Director, instructor (Youth & Adult Ballet) is a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy and a recipient of the Fine Arts Award in dance technique and choreography. Martha has over 3 decades of intensive classical ballet studies with dance masters such as Mme. Gabriela Darvash, Gretchen Ward Warren and Robert Brassel. After performing for over 18 years as a soloist with regional and international ballet and modern companies including Newport News Ballet (Virginia), Israel Ballet (Tel Aviv), and The Robert Kovich Company (NYC), she founded East Village Dance Project. In addition to directing EVDP, she teaches dance at New York University’s Experimental Theater Wing and Bates Dance Festival.
Victoria Roberts-Wierzbowski Assistant Director, Instructor (Modern) In addition to working with the wonderful students at EVDP, Victoria has taught movement classes at charter and public schools throughout New York City and has served as a staff development coach for instructors teaching physical education classes in elementary and middle schools. Originally from Western Massachusetts, she received her BA in Social Sciences and Dance from Sarah Lawrence College. Victoria has performed with David Neumann/advanced beginner group, Mollye Maxner/Chimera Physical Theater, Katie Rose McLaughlin and Dan O’Neil.
